| Tired of carrying around that bulky leader's book? Now you
can have all of your leader information literally in the palm
of your hand and on your desktop PC! The WSI Leader’s
eBook is a leader's digital book that saves small unit
leaders valuable time by helping them with daily administrative
tasks.
The WSI Leader’s eBook resides on
both desktop computers (PCs) and on hand-held PDAs (Palm OS or
Pocket PC devices). It provides
a rich structure for capturing the information that every leader
must have about their soldiers. It also contains many reports
that leaders need about their soldiers, for example, a listing
of weapons qualifications, APFT scores, assigned equipment, plus
much more. The Leader’s eBook also
contains 4 customizable categories that you can name and track
dates and various comments. Additionally, the Leader’s eBook contains a report writer
allowing the user to create custom reports. Microsoft Access
is required to edit standard reports or create new reports.
There are four components to the WSI Leader’s
eBook:
1. The first is Leader's Personnel. This
component tracks information about the individuals for whom you
are responsible, including military specific information, personal,
family, medical, uniform sizes, APFT, CTT, education, certifications,
qualifications, licenses, awards, equipment, and personally owned
vehicles and weapons. You can add other miscellaneous data as
needed. Information on your soldiers can be entered and maintained
in the Leader’s eBook either
on your PC or PDA. Synching the two on a regular basis will ensure
both of your systems have complete information all of the time.
2. The second component is the Leader’s Guide.
The Guide resides only on the PDA. The Leader’s
Guide is a basic table of instructions for war fighting,
based on the Army’s Combat Leader’s Guide.
It contains checklists and memory aids for those things that are
routine in the field and in training. Examples include rules for
leading in combat, combat in a built up area, planning an attack,
risk management, and more!
3. The third component is the Leadership module that
resides on both the PC and PDA.
Within this module are a list of common Army Acronyms and Leadership documents. Leadership documents include the Army’s Core Values,
the NCO Creed and the SGT Morales Story.
You
can add other text documents to the Leadership module and
new definitions can be added to Acronyms.
4. The fourth component is the Leader's Tools module.
The Tools module includes a number of calculators commonly
used by small unit leaders including APFT scoring, percentage fat
calculations, US-to-metric conversion, risk calculations, and
more.
The Leader’s eBook can be used on
a PC alone as a powerful
and useful database tool to help you manage and update the personnel
administrative information you need as a military leader. From the Leader’s eBook PC database,
you can view, update, add, delete, and print information as you
need it.
While you do not need to own or use a hand-held device (PDA) in order
to use Leader’s eBook on your
desktop PC, its power is maximized when used with a PDA! By integrating
with a PDA, you maximize the capabilities and usefulness of the
Leader’s eBook software. On your Palm OS or
Pocket PC PDA, you can enter, change,
and delete information in the field. By synchronizing
(syncing) your PDA to your PC, you can easily access and
update information in your office or in the field without
duplicating your work.
With the Leader’s eBook, you
no longer have to carry large binders of paper documents wherever
you go and then later enter information into your office computer
- everything is electronically coordinated!
