What are the system requirements for running the Leader’s eBook?

System requirements PC:

1. 75MB of free disk space.

2. 32 MB of RAM.

3. CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive (if you load from a CD)

4. Microsoft Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP.

System requirements for Palm OS PDA:

1. Palm OS 3.1 or higher
2. 1MB free memory

System requirements for Pocket PC PDA:

1. Microsoft Pocket PC 2002 or 2003
2. ActiveSync 3.5 or higher
3. 5 MB free memory

What do I need to know about installing the Leader’s eBook to my Pocket PC PDA?

IMPORTANT: Before installing to your Pocket PC device, you must select Pocket Access to be synchronized:

1. Open MS ActiveSync and select Options
2. Under Sync Options/Mobile Device select Pocket Access

How can I export data to another computer?

1. Select the Company, Platoon, Squad and Rank that you wish to export on the main menu screen.
2. Select Export/Import on the main menu.
3. Export the files to whatever destination you select (consider relabeling the file to prevent confusion)
4. Burn the Export files to CD (if not changed, the destination will be c:/eBook_Export).
5. Install WSI Leader's eBook program onto the second computer, if not already installed.
6. Import the files to the second computer's hard drive.
7. Open the eBook on the second computer, click on Export/Import, and import the files from the saved location on the hard drive.

How do I create custom reports?

To create custom reports, MS Access must be installed on your computer.   To create a custom report, click on Create, next select the area you want to create a report on, e.g. APFT, Military, etc., then follow the on-screen instructions to format the report. You can export any report to MS Word by clicking on the Word symbol in the Tool Bar.

I don’t see the certifications, languages, licenses, equipment, CTT tasks, or award options that I need in the pull down pick lists.  How do I add the options I need?

1. The pull down pick lists can be customized to meet your needs.
2. Go to the Options tab in the Access database on your PC.
3. Choose the list that you want to modify.
4. Add the new option at the bottom of the list, next to the asterisk.
5. Hit the Save button.
6. Hit the Done button.

Information I added on the PDA is not showing up on the PC after I synchronize.

How do I beam all my soldiers to another PDA?

CAUTION: Beamed data will overwrite existing data on the receiving PDA! For example, if you receive new data for a soldier named Smith, you will lose information for Smith currently loaded on your PDA. If you have information on both PDAs that you want to keep, synchronize both PDA’s to the same PC rather than beaming data.

1. Ensure that the receiving PDA has the Leader's eBook software already loaded on it
2. Be sure that the Leader's eBook is closed on the receiving PDA. 
3. Click on the "Beam" button on the main menu of the sending PDA.
4. Select “Beam All Soldiers” on the sending PDA
5. Turn on the receiving PDA, hold its infrared port near the infrared port of the sending PDA, and wait for the data to be transferred. 
6. When the data file transfer is completed, you will be asked if you want to accept the transferred data.  

How do I upgrade from Platoon Warrior to the Leader’s eBook?

Upgrading from the Leader’s eBook 2.02, 2.11, and Platoon Warrior if data doesn’t transfer automatically to Leader’s eBook 3.

1. Before you install the Leader’s ebook 3.0 synchronize your PC with each PDA using your current Warrior Solutions program (Platoon Warrior or Leader’s eBook 2.02/2.11)
2. Delete Platoon Warrior/Leader’s eBook 2.02/2.11 from the PDAs.  (See your PDA user’s manual for instructions on how to delete programs from the PDA.)

3. Install the Leader’s ebook 3.0 onto your PC.
4. Install the Leader’s ebook 3.0 onto your PDA.
   
1. From the Leader’s ebook 3.0 main menu select Install to PDA.
2. Select the appropriate PDA OS (Palm or Pocket PC) and follow the onscreen instructions.
3. Open the Leader’s ebook 3.0 on your PDA and ensure any soldiers you had on the PC have been transferred to the PDA.
   
5. Synchronize the Leader’s ebook 3.0 between your PC and PDA.
6. Left click on your PCs Start button.  Move your cursor to open Programs, then to highlight the Leader’s ebook 3.0 and click on Upgrade.
7. Follow the onscreen instructions to upgrade to Leader’s ebook 3.0.
8. Open the Leader’s ebook 3.0 and confirm that all files from your previous version have been transferred to the Leader’s ebook 3.0.
9. Conduct a Sync operation on the Leader’s ebook 3.0.
10. Confirm all files have migrated to the PDA.
11. Uninstall Platoon Warrior/Leader’s eBook 2.02/2.11 by left clicking on the PCs Start button and using Uninstall option under Platoon Warrior/Leader’s eBook 2.02/2.11.
12. Right click on Start button, click on Explore.  Under your main drive (usually C or D) find the Warrior Solutions directory and delete the Platoon Warrior/Leader’s eBook 2.02/2.11 file.
